Cardiff Sports Orthopaedics is a partnership of consultant orthopaedic surgeons based in South Wales specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of bone, joint and musculoskeletal disorders including sports injuries, degenerative joint disease and arthritis.

The shoulder can be affected by a number of conditions that result in pain, stiffness and weakness including osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tears, bursitis and instability.

The elbow can be affected by a number of problems within the joint including arthritis and loose bodies. The muscles and tendons around the joint can also give rise to problems such as ‘tennis elbow’

Elbow Procedures

The hip joint is a “ball and socket” shaped joint. It can be affected by diseases such as osteoarthritis leading to destruction of the lining of the joint, the articular cartilage. Surgery can be considered when pain in the hip is affecting a patient’s quality of life and non-operative measures such as physiotherapy, walking aids and pain killers are no longer helping.

Hip replacement surgery is one of the most successful operations of our time in improving someone’s quality of life.
